It’s time for Game 5 of the Calder Cup Finals, and it’s a must-win situation for the Charlotte Checkers. With a win tonight, the Abbotsford Canucks can take home the Calder Cup Trophy in front of their fans at the Abbotsford Centre.
After a near comeback from Charlotte on Thursday night, the Abby Canucks won 3-2 to take a 3-1 lead in the series. Charlotte pulled its goaltender and scored a late goal to bring the score within one, but Abbotsford hung on to win the game.
Tonight, it’s do-or-die for both sides, as with a Charlotte win, Abbotsford will have to go to Charlotte for the rest of the games. If Abbotsford wins, Charlotte’s season is over and the Canucks take the title.

Linus Karlsson, the leading scorer of the Calder Cup Playoffs gets on the score sheet, burying a rebound to take advantage of the 5-on-3 advantage. Arshdeep Bains and Christian Wolanin both get assists on the goal.
A second penalty on Charlotte gives Abbotsford the 5-on-3 advantage for the next 44 seconds.

Just seconds after going down a goal, the Canucks have the first power play of the night as Jesse Puljujärvi gets a minor for tripping, and will look to tie the score.
Ben Steeves scores on assists from Jack Devine and Oliver Okuliar, slotting his shot past Silovs. The goal came at the 12:55 mark.
Arsheed Bains gets a big shot on an open net, but Kahkonen somehow comes up with a big save.
Charlotte has the first shot on goal and Silovs comfortable makes the save.
The puck has dropped and the action has started in Abbotsford. Will there be another quick goal tonight or will it take time for teams to score?
