One minute into double overtime and there's already an early icing for the Florida Panthers.
Big chance here for the Edmonton Oilers.
2OT 20:00 – Panthers 4, Oilers 4
The second overtime frame is underway.
It's a bit early for this but in case you're wondering, the longest game in Stanley Cup Final history ended in triple overtime. Petr Klima scored 15:13 into the third OT period as the Oilers beat the Bruins 3-2 in Game 1 of the 1990 Final. 1990 remains the last time Edmonton won the Stanley Cup …
In that overtime period, there were 11 icings. That's a sign of fatigue from both teams.
Those faceoffs in the offensive zone will be crucial after icings in double overtime.
Four Oilers in this game have scored a multi-overtime winner at any point in the playoffs:
And one Panther has as well: Matthew Tkachuk (Game 1 of 2023 conference final)

Jordan M: DOUBLE BONUS HOCKEY LETS GOOOOO
Stephen R: I’m starting to get worried about the fans in the arena – I’m guessing they haven’t had a beer in an hour or more.
Mark B: Game going to double oilertime.
Jordan B: Man, this series feels like the most evenly matched and competitive finals I’ve ever seen. Unreal the talent on these teams. The rest of the league has a loooooong way to go to have a chance at toppling the best of the best

This is the 23rd multi-overtime game in Stanley Cup Final history and first since Game 5 of the 2020 Final.
"Who scored in that game?" I hear you all asking. Why, it was none other than tonight's hero in regulation, Corey Perry, doing so for the Stars against the Lightning. Another current Edmonton player, John Klingberg, assisted on the goal.
And! If that wasn't enough, that game was being played at Rogers Place, the site of tonight's contest, due to the pandemic.
Talk about written in the stars!

OT 1:00 – Panthers 4, Oilers 4
One minute left in the first overtime period. Both teams have had chances to end the game. But there's some fatigue setting in as the broadcast in Canada pans to the players on the bench.
Faceoff at center ice. Here we go!
OT 2:22 – Panthers 4, Oilers 4
McDavid, Draisaitl, Perry, Ekholm and Bouchard head out onto the ice for this draw after the Florida icing. Is this the time for the Oilers to end the game?
OT 2:41 – Panthers 4, Oilers 4
A brief stoppage of play as the referees decide who should stay on the ice.
Darnell Nurse is skating. These players had a breather. As did everyone watching this intense game.
Will we see a double overtime period?
Gustav Forsling sprawls on the ice and prevents Evander Kane from getting a Grade A scoring chance.
Wowza!
OT 4:35 – Panthers 4, Oilers 4
Sam Reinhart with a glorious chance on the breakaway. But that shot wasn't even close, missing it by four or five inches.
OT continues.

The best two chances through the first half of overtime belonged to Panthers' Marchand and Reinhart.
Bobrovsky and Skinner have made some fantastic saves over the first half of this overtime period.
The goalies are playing their butts off. It's weird to say it's been an excellently goaltended game with eight goals, but in my opinion that's the case tonight.
OT 9:05 – Panthers 4, Oilers 4
Two more amazing saves from Stuart Skinner off of Sam Reinhart and Seth Jones. He keeps Edmonton's Game 2 hopes alive.
We're under 10 to go in the first overtime period. A temporary break to get the ice shovelled.
Will there be a double overtime or will someone get the game winner?
