Lane Hutson has a clear lane to the Calder Trophy, with the Montreal Canadiens rookie defenseman closing as the runaway Calder Trophy odds favorite at our best NHL betting sites
The other finalists are Macklin Celebrini and Dustin Wolf.
When the market closed, Hutson had an implied win probability of 94%. Celebrini was atop the odds leaderboard for most of the season but was passed by Hutson down the stretch.
Calgary Flames No. 1 netminder Wolf enjoyed a memorable season and challenged the two front-runners intermittently for an extended period.
The Calder Trophy market closed in the final week of the regular season. The winner will be announced at the NHL award show after the Stanley Cup Final.
From -800 to -1600, Hutson’s odds shortened dramatically in the season’s final two weeks. That’s an implied probability increase of 88.89% to 94.12%.
Hutson finished with the most points among rookies (66) and the most assists (60). He had 10 times more assists than goals, finishing the campaign with 22 more assists than second-place Celebrini.

Celebrini enjoyed an incredibly consistent rookie season. Under most circumstances, he would be named the Calder Trophy recipient. However, Hutson poured it on in the second half of the season, spring-boarding the Canadiens to the playoffs.
Celebrini, the No. 1 draft pick, had the most points per game (.90) among rookies.
However, the Sharks were the worst team in the league. While Celebrini is faultless in his team’s ineptitude, you can’t ignore what Hutson accomplished in Montreal, especially considering that most analysts believed the Canadiens would be one of the league’s bottom feeders.
Best odds: +1100 via Caesars | Implied probability: 8.33%

Wolf’s Calder Trophy bid will most likely come up just short. Like Hutson, much of his candidacy depended on whether he could drag his team to the playoffs. He came within a point of doing so but was thwarted in the end.
It was a valiant effort, though. Wolf finished with +15000 odds.
Best odds: +15000 via DraftKings | Implied probability: 0.66%
