Michigan State and Cornell are battling each other in the first day of the 2025 NCAA Hockey Tournament meeting in the Toledo regional.
Both teams reached the tournament with automatic bids by winning the Big Ten and ECAC conferences.
Michigan State men’s ice hockey has two top NHL prospects that have been leading the Spartans all season in Trey Augustine and Big Ten player of the year, Issac Howard who had two goals in the 4-3 win over Ohio State in the conference title game.
Cornell has a well rounded team with making its third straight appearance in the NCAA tournament and wants to make it a memorable one with it being head coach Mike Schafer’s last season.
The winner of this matchup will advance to the Toledo Regional Final on March 29 for a spot in the Frozen Four, facing either Boston University or Ohio State.
