Macklin Celebrini continually paces the Calder Trophy odds race at our best NHL betting sites, maintaining his lead over Lane Hutson.
Dustin Wolf has surged over the last week and leapfrogged Matvei Michkov into third place on the Calder Trophy odds leaderboard. The Calgary Flames netminder has turned it into a four-horse race down the final straight. 
Here are the latest Calder Trophy notes: 
Celebrini has been the lead horse in this race for a few months, and there are no signs of him relinquishing his grip. He leads all rookies with 0.89 points per game. 
Michkov is the most streaky of the contenders, and it seems he goes hot and cold as readily as somebody turning a faucet. Celebrini, on the other hand, is the model of consistency.
His odds lengthened from -300 to -200 over the last month but didn’t change over the last week. He’s the odds-on favorite and deservingly so. A winning $10 bet on Macklin will lead to a profit of $5.

Hutson is back scoring at a point-per-game rate, but his odds fell slightly from +225 to +310. He has a monstrous lead atop the assists leaderboard, 17 ahead of second-place Celebrini. 
He’s posting a helper at a rate of .70 per game. That assist-per-game clip would be third-best in terms of points per game among all rookies, trailing just Celebrini and Michkov. 
He’s also one of the main reasons the Habs are fighting for a wild-card spot. If they pull off the improbable, Hutson’s stock in this race will skyrocket. At the moment, I can’t see that happening, but stranger things have occurred. 
With his odds shortening over the last two weeks, a winning $10 bet will profit $22.50.

Can you hear Wolf howl? 
The Flames goaltender has seen his odds move substantially in the last week, shifting from +2500 to +1000. That’s an implied probability shift of 2.85% to 9.09%. 
He secured his third shutout of the season at home against Montreal and is 3-1-1 in his last five games, posting a .935 save percentage and a sterling 1.78 goals-against average. Wolf is among the top 10 in terms of goals saved above expected. 
If Wolf steers Calgary to a playoff spot, I expect him to have a shot of reeling in Hutson, even Celebrini, atop the odds leaderboard. If the Flames fall short of their ultimate goal, it’s an uphill task.

Votes from the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association must be filed before the Stanley Cup Playoffs begin. Last year’s Calder Trophy was announced at the NHL Awards ceremony on June 27. 
Twelve No. 1 draft picks have won the Calder Trophy, including Bedard, Auston Matthews, Mario Lemieux, Nathan MacKinnon, Patrick Kane, Alexander Ovechkin, Aaron Ekblad, Gilbert Perreault, Denis Potvin, Dale Hawerchuk, Bobby Smith, and Bryan Berard. 
Steve Mason was the last goaltender to win the Calder Trophy. He secured the honor with the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2008-09. 
Sixteen goaltenders have won the Calder Trophy but only three since 2000 (Mason, Andrew Raycroft, Evgeni Nabokov).
