Hockey is coming to the Horseshoe on Saturday night as the Blue Jackets host the Red Wings in the latest installment of the NHL Stadium Series.
Ohio Stadium, home of Buckeyes football, is only about three miles from Nationwide Arena, but the atmosphere figures to be quite a departure from the norm as Columbus plays in its first outdoor game, home or away.

The Red Wings have played outside four times, including at Michigan Stadium, home of the Buckeyes’ eternal rivals, on New Year’s Day 2014. This will be Detroit’s first game in the elements since 2017, though, so it will be a new experience for most.
Unique venue aside, there’s plenty to play for between the Midwestern foes, with each sitting on 66 points and fourth in their respective divisions. As things stand, Columbus and Detroit would be the two Eastern Conference wild card teams if the playoffs started today.
The teams have split their previous two meetings this season. Here’s how to watch all the action as they get together again Saturday without a roof:
Fans can watch the 2025 Stadium Series game between the Blue Jackets and Red Wings live on ESPN, with Sean McDonough handling play-by-play, Ray Ferraro providing analysis and Emily Kaplan, Kevin Weekes and Marty Smith reporting.

Puck drop for Blue Jackets vs. Red Wings will be at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 1. The game will be held at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

While it technically is a neutral-site game, this Stadium Series installment will be played in Columbus, Ohio, the Blue Jackets’ hometown. This game will be outdoors in Ohio Stadium, home of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
NHL officials say they are expecting more than 90,000 in attendance, which would be the second-largest crowd in league history behind the 105,491 who attended the Red Wings-Maple Leafs game in Ann Arbor in 2014.
