The NHL has resumed after the successful 4 Nations Face-off, and they’ll follow up that international showcase with one of the league’s signature regular-season events on Saturday.
The Columbus Blue Jackets are hosting the 2025 Stadium Series against the Detroit Red Wings, with the game being played at Ohio Stadium, home of Ohio State football. While the Red Wings have played in four outdoor games, which includes one win in the Stadium Series, this will be the Blue Jackets’ first outdoor game in franchise history.
Both teams enter the game jockeying for playoff position, as Detroit and Columbus each hold the final two playoff spots in the Eastern Conference with 66 points each. The Red Wings are 30-23-6 on the year; the Blue Jackets are 29-22-8. Both teams are in the midst of playoff droughts, so this game should mean a lot to each side.

The Red Wings are led by young forwards Dylan Larkin, Lucas Raymond, and Alex DeBrincat, all of whom have at least 50 points this season. On the other side, the Blue Jackets have two players with at least 50 points, defenseman Zach Werenski and forward Kirill Marchenko.

6:53 p.m.: Dimitri Voronkov had an opportunity right in the front of the net, but Talbot makes the save to keep the game scoreless.
6:50 p.m.: Halfway through the first period, the Red Wings lead shots-on-goal 8-3, but Merzlikins has made all eight saves.
6:46 p.m.: Columbus’ first dangerous chance of the game results in a Cam Talbot save as the Blue Jackets had the puck deep in Detroit’s zone.
6:41 p.m.: The Red Wings get some sustained pressure in the Blue Jacketss’ zone but can’t convert as Elvis Merzlikins makes his first save of the night.
6:38 p.m.: Some back-and-forth action to begin the game as both teams get a hang of the ice conditions.
6:36 p.m.: After Alabama -Tennessee finally ended, we are underway from Ohio Stadium!

4:21 p.m.: Other ways the teams are honoring Gaudreau include dressing as him. The Blue Jackets went with a “Signature Johnny fit” while the Red Wings all wore Gaudreau’s Team USA jersey.

This year’s Stadium Series will be played live from Ohio Stadium at 6 p.m. local time in Columbus.
For the third straight year, the ESPN family of networks has the call for the Stadium Series. While ABC carried each of the last two, ESPN will get the broadcast this season. Additionally, Canadian fans can watch the game on FX.
