It’s NBA Playoff Time!
Heinen struggled in the playoffs, generating a lone helper in eight games, after reaching the 30-point threshold in the regular season.
Heinen was back with the Bruins after last playing for the organization during the 2019-20 campaign. Despite limited power-play opportunities, the 28-year-old winger produced 17 goals and 19 assists, topping 30 points for the fourth time in his eight-year career. Looking ahead to next season, Heinen will hit the open market July 1 and could sign with a new team.
Swayman made 26 saves in a 2-1 loss to the Panthers on Friday in Game 6.
Swayman stood tall in the crease Friday, but his valiant effort wasn’t enough as the Panthers eliminated the Bruins in a heart-wrenching loss. Despite the defeat, the 25-year-old netminder stopped 26 of 28 shots, showcasing his poise under playoff pressure. Over six second-round contests, Swayman posted a solid .917 save percentage and 2.86 GAA, indicating his consistent high-level performance down the stretch. The future is bright for Swayman, though he might once again split time with Linus Ullmark, who has one campaign left on his contract, during the 2024-25 regular season.
Swayman will get the starting nod for Game 6 at home against the Panthers on Friday, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
Swayman will make his 11th consecutive start Friday. He’s won five of his previous 10 contests while posting a .929 save percentage over that span. However, he’s registered a 3.03 GAA and a .915 save percentage this series against Florida. Swayman helped fend off elimination with a Game 5 win by stopping 28 of 29 shots.
Marchand (upper body) is warming up and is expected to play Friday in Game 6 against the Panthers, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
Marchand will get back in the lineup after missing Games 4 and 5 due to an injury he sustained during Game 3. He tallied two assists in the first three games of the series and has 10 this postseason. He’ll slide back into his usual top-six role and see time with the No. 1 power-play unit.
Marchand (upper body) will be a game-time decision ahead of Game 6 against the Panthers on Friday, Conor Ryan of The Boston Globe reports.
Coach Jim Montgomery was almost never going to confirm Marchand in the lineup considering we are in the postseason. Fantasy players will have to take a wait-and-see approach, though the fact that Marchand was working with the No. 1 power-play unit Thursday should indicate his availability. If he does suit up, the veteran will be looking to end a six-game goal-scoring drought in order to help the Bruins stave off elimination.
Steen, Ian Mitchell, Georgi Merkulov, Marc McLaughlin, Trevor Kuntar, Michael DiPietro, Michael Callahan and Joey Abate were called up from AHL Providence on Thursday, per CapFriendly.
Steen has the most experience among those Black Aces call-ups, but none are likely to feature during the Bruins‘ playoff run. Steen had one goal, 24 shots on net and 79 hits in 34 NHL games this season, as well as 18 points over 28 outings between the regular season and playoffs for Providence.
Marchand (upper body) was again labeled day-to-day ahead of Game 6 against the Panthers on Friday, Conor Ryan of The Boston Globe reports.
Marchand did practice with the No. 1 power-play unit, which is a good indication that he will be back in the lineup Friday even if coach Jim Montgomery wouldn’t confirm his captain’s status. If given the all-clear, Marchand should immediately reclaim a top-six role, as he looks to end a six-game goal drought that dates back to April 27 versus the Maple Leafs.
Frederic logged an assist, three shots on goal and three hits in Tuesday’s 2-1 win over the Panthers in Game 5.
Frederic hasn’t scored a goal in seven games, and he’s added a modest two assists in that span. The 26-year-old winger has seen a bump up into the top six while Brad Marchand (upper body) has been out. Frederic has five points, 17 shots on net, 49 hits, 20 PIM and a plus-6 rating over 12 playoff appearances. He’ll likely drop back to the third line if Marchand is cleared to play in Friday’s Game 6.
DeBrusk recorded an assist, five hits and three blocked shots in Tuesday’s 2-1 win over the Panthers in Game 5.
DeBrusk is warming up on offense with two goals and three assists over five games in the second round. The 27-year-old winger set up a Morgan Geekie tally in the first period. DeBrusk is up to 10 points, 23 shots on net, 47 hits and a minus-4 rating through 12 playoff appearances. He should continue to see top-six minutes, though it appears he’s benefiting from a larger role while Brad Marchand (upper body) is unavailable.
Coyle notched an assist, eight hits, two blocked shots and two PIM in Tuesday’s 2-1 win over the Panthers in Game 5.
Coyle set up Charlie McAvoy’s second-period tally, which was the game-winner. With three points over five contests in the second round, Coyle has surpassed his production of two helpers over seven first-round outings versus the Maple Leafs. He’s still not doing great overall, but he’s added 56 hits, 23 blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating to his five points across 12 playoff appearances while holding down a top-six role.
Geekie scored a goal on three shots and added two PIM in Tuesday’s 2-1 win over the Panthers in Game 5.
The goal was Geekie’s second in the last five games, and it gave him four tallies and five points through 12 playoff contests. The 25-year-old has held down a top-six role throughout the postseason, but his contributions tend to be more complementary on offense. He’s added 17 shots on net, 27 hits and a plus-2 rating.
McAvoy scored a goal on six shots, dished an assist, blocked four shots, doled out three hits and added two PIM in Tuesday’s 2-1 win over the Panthers in Game 5.
McAvoy had been held off the scoresheet for seven straight contests entering Tuesday. He helped out on Morgan Geekie’s first-period tally before scoring the game-winning goal midway through the second. McAvoy has been limited to six points over 12 playoff outings, but he’s added plenty of physicality with 52 hits, 33 blocked shots and 18 PIM. The 26-year-old blueliner continues to play in a top-pairing role.
Swayman stopped 28 of 29 shots in Tuesday’s 2-1 win over the Panthers in Game 5.
Swayman snapped a three-game losing streak with the effort, which saw him allow the lone goal to Sam Reinhart in the second period. The Bruins still face an uphill battle, but it’s likely to be Swayman who will have the chance to keep their season going. He’s 6-5 over 11 playoff outings and has allowed two or fewer goals in eight of those contests. Game 6 is Friday in Boston.
Swayman will protect the road goal versus the Panthers in Tuesday’s Game 5, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
Swayman has allowed 12 goals during his three-game losing streak, but head coach Jim Montgomery is sticking with the 25-year-old with the Bruins‘ season on the line. Through 10 playoff outings, Swayman has a 2.28 GAA and a .930 save percentage, though he has lost two of his last three road games.
Marchand (upper body) won’t be available for Game 5 versus the Panthers on Tuesday, Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald reports.
Although Marchand isn’t an option for the must-win Game 5, he was on the ice for Tuesday’s morning skate, suggesting there’s a chance he could draw back into the lineup for Game 6 on Friday if the Bruins are able to stave off elimination. Marchand’s racked up three goals and 10 points through 10 games this postseason.
Marchand (upper body) is still considered day-to-day ahead of Game 5 versus the Panthers on Tuesday, Conor Ryan of The Boston Globe reports.
Marchand skated Monday morning and will travel with the team to Florida. He sat out Sunday’s 3-2 loss to the Panthers in Game 4 after being injured during Friday’s 6-2 defeat in Game 3 of Boston’s second-round series. It’s currently unclear if Marchand will be available for Tuesday’s must-win contest. He has racked up three goals and 10 points in 10 outings this postseason.
