Michigan and Minnesota battle in a heavyweight, top-15 showdown on the ice in Ann Arbor this weekend.
The fourth-ranked Golden Gophers enter Friday’s contest five points behind first-place Michigan State in the Big Ten standings, with just three series remaining. They’re coming off a dominant two-game set against Wisconsin last weekend, having out-scored the Badgers 9-3.
Forward Jimmy Snuggerud leads the team with 41 points, though he had a six-game point streak snapped last Saturday.

The 12th-ranked Wolverines haven’t won a series since late November, though they did earn a split against the second-ranked Spartans last weekend. Forward T.J. Hughes, who has a team-high 33 points, keyed Friday’s victory with an early goal.
In December, Minnesota blanked Michigan twice, out-scoring the Wolverines by a combined 8-0 across the two-game set.
