The NHL’s All-Star weekend has been a long-standing tradition in the sport. Filled with two days of so-so skills competitions and then a diluted version of a game that hockey fans love to complain about, the NHL’s All-Star Game celebrations have fallen flat in recent years.
For 2025, however, the NHL is doing something a bit different. The All-Star Game is taking a back seat to the 4 Nations Face-Off.
Yes, there is no NHL All-Star Game in 2025. Instead, the 4 Nations Face-Off will feature the best players from four countries — the United States, Canada, Sweden, and Finland — in a tournament to determine which nation reigns above all. It’s a unique spin on a mid-season break for the NHL, but hopefully one that is more competitive than its predecessor.
The 4 Nations Face-Off will begin on February 12.
