The Winnipeg Jets (31-13-3) got off to a red-hot start in 2024/25 and haven’t looked back since, but in the most loaded division in the entire NHL, they’ll need to continue at that level to finish on top of the Central.
On Monday they face a division rival in the Utah Hockey Club (19-19-7), who have shown glimpses of being an elite team in year one, but without the consistency to back it up, they don’t yet look like a Stanley Cup Playoffs contender. Read on for our Winnipeg Jets vs. Utah Hockey Club prediction.

Can the Jets stay atop the Central Division?
Despite an incredible run thus far in 2024/25 that includes a 13-8-0 record away from home, the Winnipeg Jets have three teams in the Central Division within eight points, meaning this race is going to continue heating up as the season rolls on. While the Jets deservingly get plenty of attention for their offense, which ranks third in the NHL with 3.51 goals scored per game, they lead the league in GAA with an incredible 2.40 behind another Vezina Trophy calibre season from Connor Hellebuyck.
That offense continues to be led by star winger Kyle Connor with 60 points in 47 games played, and with four other players over 39 points on the year, this team is as deep as any in the league. Last time out for the Jets was a tough loss to the Calgary Flames, with just one goal scored despite 39 shots on net, and while Eric Comrie allowed just two goals on 21 shots, it was enough for the Flames as Winnipeg fell 3-1.
Can Utah HC get back into Stanley Cup Playoff contention?
The Utah Hockey Club are one of the youngest and most talented teams in the NHL, but thus far, they’ve not shown the ability to be a consistent threat all over the ice, with their 7-11-4 record on home ice leaving them six points out of a Wild Card spot. Despite showing offensive flashes, Utah average just 2.82 goals per game, but with the goaltending ranking 15th in the league in GAA, they may just have the time to make a run late in the season.
With a combined 89 points this season, it appears though both Clayton Keller and Logan Cooley have taken huge leaps forward, and if that continues, this team will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come. Last time out for Utah was a big win over the St. Louis Blues, with a combined seven points from Keller and Cooley leading the way as Connor Ingram made a timely 22 saves to pick up a 4-2 victory.
Insiders Status:
Since moving to Salt Lake City, these two teams have met just once, with the Winnipeg Jets coming away winners in a dominant 3-0 shutout back on November 5th, but with the standings the way they are, it’s easy to see why the Jets enter this game as a favorite.
On top of that, the Jets have Connor Hellebuyck in net who has been absolutely dominant in 2024/25, and with the home team having a losing record on their home ice this season, expect Winnipeg to be a big time winner in this one.
Insiders Status:
Both of these teams are loaded with offensive talent, but with neither posting a GAA above 3.00 on the season, as well as their lone meeting seeing just three goals scored, expect this to be a matchup dominated by the goaltending.
For the Jets, the under is 5-5 in their last 10 overall games, with just nine goals allowed in their past six games, and for Utah, the under is 5-4-1 in their past 10, with the team scoring three or less goals in eight of those games.
Keep it simple, take the under.
