The NHL playoffs continue tonight, as the New York Rangers play against the Florida Panthers at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN. The Rangers are just two games away from the Stanley Cup Finals, as they currently hold a 2-1 series lead over the Panthers. Game 4 is a pivotal game tonight, as the Panthers try to defend their home ice in Florida to tie the series.
After getting shutout in the series opener, New York has won two overtime games in a row to take control of the series. This includes a 5-4 win on Sunday, where New York players Barclay Goodrow and Alexis Lafrenière scored multiple goals. Due to their great performances last game, they are only one goal away from leading the team in scoring this postseason. So, both players will look to find the back of the net during game 4 tonight.
The Panthers almost completed a comeback on Sunday, as they scored two unanswered goals in the third period to force overtime. However, New York’s Alex Wennberg scored his first postseason goal this year to put the Panthers away. Despite the heartbreaking loss, Florida still has a chance to even the series at home tonight and put the pressure back on New York.
In order for the Panthers to win this evening, they will need to convert on their shot opportunities. In Sunday’s game, Florida only scored four times on 37 shots. Meanwhile, the Rangers scored five goals on 23 shots. So, the Panthers are finding numerous offensive chances, but they are struggling to make them count.
