Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller are both on the trade block and now Frank Seravalli has suggested that the Utah Hockey Club could make a run at one of them.
The Utah Hockey Club has found some solid success in their first season as an NHL franchise, but if the team wants to push for a Stanley Cup Playoffs spot, they may need to get bold.
According to top NHL Insider Frank Seravalli, they may have some targets in mind to do just that, as the Daily Faceoff reporter has now suggested that they could use some of their pieces to land Elias Pettersson or J.T. Miller from the Vancouver Canucks.
As mentioned, Utah now has a surplus of defensemen as the likes of Sean Durzi and John Marino have gotten healthy, and if the Canucks want to balance out this lineup with help on the blue line, Utah may be the team to get it done.
What would be interesting however is the Canucks are chasing one of the two Wild Card spots in the Western Conference, and getting better would make Utah a genuine contender for one of those spots, making it potentially unlikely that they’d want to do business with a team trying to take one of those spots away.
Ultimately, it appears right now as though one or the other will be on its way out of Vancouver, so whether it’s New York, Buffalo, Detroit, or a team closer to home such as Calgary or Utah, keep a close eye on the Canucks moving forward as they could make a huge splash at any moment.
