Brayden Point of the Tampa Bay Lightning will not suit up vs. the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night, being named a healthy scratch after missing a team meeting.
Point has appeared in 37 out of a possible 41 games this season, recording 25 goals and 22 assists. However, in the last five games, he’s only had two goals and three points.
On Dec. 4, Point was named to the Canadian National Team for the 4 Nations Face-Off for which Jon Cooper, the head coach of the Lightning, is also the bench boss.
Replacing Point in the lineup will be forward Jack Finley, who is set to make his NHL debut. The 22-year-old has two goals and four assists in 10 games with the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch this season.
The Lightning are currently holding onto third place in the Atlantic Division with a 23-15-3 record for 49 points, but only hold a four-point cushion on the Ottawa Senators, who are the first team out of the playoffs.
