Since trading Jacob Trouba and Kaapo Kakko, the Rangers haven’t improved their play. Trade rumors have continued to grow, involving players like Ryan Lindgren, Mika Zibanejad, and recently acquired Will Borgen. New York will remain one of the teams to watch as the 4 Nations roster freeze and the NHL Trade Deadline approaches.
Colorado has been plagued with injuries this season and remains in the playoff hunt. The Avalanche are typically active at the NHL Trade Deadline and have many ways to upgrade. Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar recently dispelled rumors that Gabriel Landeskog was experiencing a setback in his knee injury. Could we still see Landeskog in an Avs sweater this season?

Igor Shesterkin inked a massive contract extension after the Trouba trade. Yet he hasn’t been able to be the major difference in stealing victories for the Rangers to keep their playoff hopes in reach. While asking a goaltender to win you 20-30 games by 1-2 goals is an extreme ask, Shesterkin is one of the top netminders in the league. If he can take another step in his game, he could be the savior his team needs right now.
Casey Mittelstadt was an acquisition the Avs could get excited about. Unfortunately, he’s not been able to find consistency. If the Avalanche want to turn from Stanley Cup contender to Stanley Cup favorite, Mittelstadt will need to play significantly better.
