The Sunday night PWHL Takeover Tour game between the Minnesota Frost and Montreal Victoire drew a record-setting crowd of 14,018 attendees at Ball Arena. The game saw the largest-ever attendance for a professional women’s hockey game in the United States to date.
The official Instagram handle of the PWHL announced the achievement with a special poster on its account, with the caption:

The Minnesota Frost defeated the Montréal Victoire 4-2 on the night and reached the top of the PWHL standings. Montreal initially took the lead in the first period of the game with Catherine Dubois’ first goal of the season, but Minnesota tied it with Britta Curl-Salemme’s goal before the break.
In the second period, Sophie Jaques put the Frost ahead with a power-play goal, until rookie Jennifer Gardiner equalized for Montreal with a power-play goal of her own. Maggie Flaherty eventually broke the tie midway through the third period with her first goal of the season, and Michela Cava added an empty-net goal in the final moments to secure the win for the Frost.
Among the attendees on the night for the game were Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar and his wife Tracy Evans who were spotted enjoying the game. Earlier, the official X account of the Avalanche helped promote the event on their social media.
During the game, the team shared a clip of Makar waving to the crowd as he and Tracy sat among the audience.
Chants of “we want a team” were audible when the record-setting attendance was announced in the arena. Minnesota Frost head coach Ken Klee praised the Denver crowd after the game, calling the atmosphere incredible.
The Frost and Victoire are set for a rematch on Friday which will take place in Montreal.
