The 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina are getting started, which means the hockey players are hitting the ice.
Both the men’s and women’s Team USA rosters are filled with players with New England ties. Some play for the region’s professional sports teams – the Boston Bruins and Boston Fleet – and others were born and raised here. Both teams are expected to be medal contenders at the Olympic games.
Since it’s a tournament, the hockey competition starts early with the the women’s team hitting the ice for the first time on Thursday, Feb. 5. Here’s the schedule and who is playing from New England.

Alex Carpenter
Seattle Torrent forward Alex Carpenter will represent Massachusetts at the Olympics for a third time this year. Born and raised in North Reading, Carpenter graduated from Governor’s Academy and Boston College, where she became the highest-scoring player in school history.
Caroline Harvey
Caroline Harvey of Salem, New Hampshire will also return to the Olympics this February, earning a spot on the roster for a second time at just 23 years old. Harvey is currently in her senior year at the University of Wisconsin.
Megan Keller
Two-time Olympian, Boston College graduate and Boston Fleet player Megan Keller will return to this year’s Olympic Games for her shot at a third team medal.
Aerin Frankel
Aerin Frankel, another Boston Fleet player and a graduate of Northeastern University, will compete in the Olympics for the first time as a goalie for the U.S. Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey Team.
Haley Winn
Haley Winn, a 2025 college graduate, will also make her Olympic debut this February following her first season with the Boston Fleet.

Charlie McAvoy
After returning to the NHL in December following a face injury, Boston Bruins starter Charlie McAvoy will make his Olympics debut in Milano-Cortina this February after eight seasons with the Bruins.
Jeremy Swayman
Fellow Bruins player Jeremy Swayman will join McAvoy as a goalie on the 2026 U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team. Originally drafted by the Bruins in 2017, Swayman has never before competed in the Olympics.
Matt Boldy
24-year-old Matt Boldy of Massachusetts will play in his first Olympic games this February. Growing up in Millis, the left wing attended Medway High School and Dexter Southfield School before moving to Michigan for hockey. Boldy played at Boston College for two seasons and was drafted to the Minnesota Wild in 2019.
Jack Eichel
Jack Eichel, center for the Vegas Golden Knights, will also make his Olympic debut this year. Eichel grew up in North Chelmsford, Massachusetts, attending Chelmsford High School and Boston University before joining the NHL as the second draft pick in 2015.
Noah Hanifin
Fellow Vegas Golden Knights player Noah Hanifin will join Eichel for his first Olympic games in Milano-Cortina. Before playing at Boston College, the Norwood-born athlete attended St. Sebastian’s School in Needham, Massachusetts. Hanifin was the fifth overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, just three spots behind Eichel.
Tage Thompson
Though Tage Thompson was born in Arizona and moved around a lot, the 28-year-old Buffalo Sabres center once called Connecticut home, living in Orange and eventually attending the University of Connecticut (UConn). Thompson will represent Connecticut in Italy as the first ever UConn men’s hockey player to compete in the Olympics.
David Eustace
David Eustace, a 26-year-old from Stoneham, Massachusetts, has been named to the U.S. Paralympic Sled Hockey Team for a second time. The one-time Paralympic gold medalist attended Stoneham High School and played on the youth sled hockey team with the Northeast Passage at the University of New Hampshire (UNH).
Griffin LaMarre
Fellow Paralympic gold medalist Griffin LaMarre will also make his second Paralympic appearance as a goalie for Team USA. Also a member of the youth sled hockey team with the Northeast Passage at UNH, LaMarre was born and raised in Haverhill, where he attended Haverhill High School.
