The road to the 2026 Olympic Winter Games is officially upon us. The men’s hockey tournament took an important step as each of the 12 participating named the first six players to their rosters Monday.
From host Italy to gold-medal favorite Canada, each team announced six players, regardless of position, that will be locked into their rosters when the puck drops in Milan Cortina in February 2026.
Many of the players that were named to the rosters are current NHL stars, but there were also a number of players that you have seen and can see on FloHockey from the ECHL and AHL as well.
That lists includes Latvia’s Artūrs Šilovs, who is currently the starting goalie for the Abbotsford Canucks who are attempting to win the AHL’s Calder Cup, which is ongoing. He was one of two goalies named to Latvia’s first six players.
Notably absent is Russia, which remains banned from international competition by the IIHF as a result of that country’s invasion of Ukraine. Belarus is also among the nations not currently allowed to compete in international hockey competitions. France was the first team in after Russia’s exclusion.

The 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milano Cortina will be staged Feb. 6-22. The men’s hockey tournament schedule has not yet been set, but games are expected to be played in Milan.
The men’s Olympic hockey tournament includes three groups of four teams. The teams in each group will play in a round-robin format to determine who qualifies for the playoff round. The groups are as follows:
