2026 New Mexico Senior Olympics Winter Games Ice Hockey Returns With Expanded Roster – Los Alamos Reporter


NEW MEXICO SENIOR OLYMPICS NEWS RELEASE
The 2026 New Mexico Senior Olympics (NMSO) Winter Games are set to bring high-energy action to the ice, with an expansion of the ice hockey tournament scheduled for Feb. 23 in Santa Fe.
Following last year’s successful exhibition game between No Regretskys and Rusty Blades, which featured two local Santa Fe teams, organizers are significantly expanding the tournament this year. Organizer Mark Randall has filled all four teams with more than 50 players both men and women.
Four teams competing for the gold medal are:
Adding a surge of hometown pride to the competition, the Los Alamos IciSkulls (pronounced “icicles”) are stepping onto the ice backed by their local sponsor, Hand Precision Machining, INC (HPM) a Los Alamos staple since 1993, Hand Precision Machining, INC is a leader in high quality precision machining to clients across New Mexico and the United States. Known locally for expert skate sharpening—ensuring the Los Alamos IciSkulls have the sharpest edge on the ice.
Captain Monica Van de Water for the Los Alamos IciSkulls will proudly sport HPM-sponsored jerseys not only for the Santa Fe Senior Olympic Winter Games but also in other prestigious regional competions, such as The Irish Cup Tournament held at the Geneva Chavez Comminity Center March 12-15, 2026.
The 2026 tournament format calls for Team 1 to play Team 2, and Team 3 to face Team 4. Each game will consist of two 20-minute periods with a running clock, with the winners battling for the gold medal in the final.
Tournament Schedule – Monday, Feb 23:
* 8:20 AM: Game 1 – TBD vs. TBD (Opening Match)
* 9:25 AM: Game 2 – TBD vs. TBD
* 10:30 AM: Championship Game – (Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2)
* 11:15 AM: Gold Medal Ceremony
